A Study on the Relationship between the Conditions of and Satisfaction with the Clinical Training of Dental Hygiene Students

Abstract
The present study attempted to propose more efficient ways of operation in the clinical training by investigating and analyzing the training conditions-e.g. major places, job assignment, and the region of clinical training. personal relationship with hospital staff, and working hours - as the factors affecting the students¡¯ satisfaction with the clinical training. Thus. this study conducted a questionnaire survey to 259 juniors in the department of Dental Hygiene. The results are as follows l. 52.9% of the subjects chose ¡¯easiness of getting a job¡¯ as a reason to go to the Dental Hygiene department: 43.6% were ¡¯moderately satisfied¡¯ with their major: 56.0% of the students responded that ¡¯college authority¡¯ decided where to have a clinical training: 73.7% of them had a training lasting 4-5 weeks for a single session: 95.4£¥ were satisfied with the length of training. and: the grade of 62.9£¥ of the subjects was B. 2. In the category of ¡¯satisfaction with the clinical training,¡¯ satisfaction with the content of the training was the highest with the score of 3.17. Especially. satisfaction was the highest in the factor, ¡¯I got a great result in terms of my aquisition of dental hygienic skills after the training.¡¯ with the average score 3.52. Satisfaction with the training evaluation was the lowest (average score: 2.53), especially with the factor. ¡¯I had the criteria before the evaluation¡¯(average score: 2.32). 3. Among the factors for the ¡¯Conditions of Training,¡¯ the overall satisfaction with the clinical training dependent on the job assignment was very significant (F=10.15, P=.000), while that dependent on the personal relationship with the staff was also very significant (F=6.08. P=.000).
